Reporting live from the Sonny Bono Concourse at the Palm Springs airport, where I'm awaiting a flight to LAX and then a dreaded red-eye home.
1. What are you wearing?
black jersey knit pants
dark red tissue-weight knit drape-neck top
black deep-V neck wrap front sweater
black flats
skull & crossbones sterling earrings
ball & chain necklace with "strength" circle charm
2. Where did you last eat out?
Um, when did I last NOT eat out? I've been at a conference all week, so every meal has been "out." So I'll report the best one. A coworker and I went to wonderful steakhouse one evening -- melt-in-your-mouth filet mignon, and delicious mashed potatoes. Unlike most of my other dinner experiences this week, this was delicious, quiet, and we were neither rushed through our meal, nor were we left waiting for long periods of time.
3. What was your major in College and do you work in the field now?
Double major in English and Poly Sci. Do I work in the field now? Well, I speak English and I do a lot of writing for work. That's about it. Despite what some might think about the impracticality of my degree, I've always thought it served me well.
4. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Well, when I was 8 I wanted to be a Jedi. Failing that, I thought being a lawyer or a writer would be great. I still would like to be one of those things. No, not a Jedi.
5. Who is the most influental person in your life right now?
Wow, this is a hard question. Well, there are several people who are influential for different reasons. Alex, no doubt. My boss and the CEO are both right up there as I learn so much from them about leadership and being my full self. I've been reading a lot of Billy Collins poetry lately, and listening to him on CD. He says that, as a young poet, he had so much he wanted to say. Later he realized he really didn't have muich to say, and his poetry improved dramatically. Sometimes I feel like that, that I don't really have much to say, and when I just write and not worry so much about it, I am much more pleased with the results. Speaking of writing, there's my closest writer friend -- anyone who can pep talk ME into starting a novel is pretty influential. (Okay, so it's only two paragraphs, but I started. It counts.) Then there's my officemate who makes me laugh and gives me great feedback and makes me think about stuff I might not otherwise consider.
