Really. I had a hair appointment at 8am yesterday, so when I was done, I figured it was a good time to hit the mall to get some new dress shoes. I was feeling sick of all my black shoes, so I headed for Macy's shoe department. Seems they're having a sale: buy 2 or more pair and save 15% off each. Six pairs of shoes later...
I got a pair of wickedly sharp Calvin Klein snakeskin pumps, some perforated mary jane spectator pumps, linen embroidered slingbacks, faux snakeskin slingbacks, some suede high heeled loafers, and the necessary pair of non-boring, relatively comfortable* high heeled black shoes. (sorry, no picture of the CKs in snakeskin)
Then the suit department caught my eye. "Buy one, get one free" the sign read. Score. Two gorgeous, sharp, non-matronly suits for spring, both Anne Klein, $700 retail for $303 with tax (extra savings for using my Macy's card). Both in neutrals (one pantsuit is a warm beige-tan, the other skirt suit is more in the bone-beige territory with a nice sheen, so work or evening appropriate. Both look so great. This is good timing because I'm leaving today for our biggest conference of the year in Atlanta and I'll be in the booth schmoozing with people at times, so I need to look great.
On a somewhat related note, the smaller mall (with the better Macy's) is undergoing renovation and expansion now. I'm not sure what they're doing, but I know they're adding a movie theater, a Cheesecake Factory, and a PF Chang's. The big central stairs and water feature have been removed and signs say that new comfortable seating is coming. Great. When I see the "Coming Soon: Sephora" sign, then I'll get excited.
